VESTRA has completed several interim remedial activities at the Bully Hill and Rising Star mines. These activities, which were conducted pursuant to a Cease and Desist Order, included developing 15 miles of the mine access road, diverting surfacewater around the main waste rock piles, grading and revegetating the main waste rock piles, installing eight continuous recording stations to establish baseline data required to identify and evaluate future remedial measures, rehabilitating about 600 feet of tunnel, installing three bulkhead seals, consolidating waste rock piles, and developing treatment systems using sulfide-reducing bacteria.
