Restoration and Inspection
Bear Creek Meadow Restoration, 1000 Springs Ranch, Shasta County, California
|
The Bear Creek Meadow Restoration Project involved creation of a 2.2-mile design channel along a 500-acre meadow in eastern Shasta County. VESTRA staff were retained to obtain grading permits, which included preparation of a grading and erosion control plan. Design of the new channel, provided by a VESTRA team partner, was based on the historical pattern, dimension, and profile to ensure that flows above bankfull condition spread out over the floodplain to dissipate energy and help trap suspended sediment load. Restoration of healthy meadow and riparian vegetation is the primary means of ensuring stability of the newly excavated channel. VESTRA staff also conducted a final site inspection immediately prior to finalization of the project. |
