Irrigation Piping Feasibility Studies
Cow Creek Watershed Management Group, shasta county, california
|
VESTRA conducted a piping feasibility analysis for six open-channel irrigation ditches in the Cow Creek Watershed. Based on willing landowners, six ditches were selected. The water rights for the ditch systems were adjudicated in the 1920s and late 1960s. The ditches were constructed in the late 1800s and are in roughly the same condition as when installed. In addition to water losses, the ditches are subject to blowouts, slides, and unstable geologic conditions, which increase sediment loading. The feasibility studies identified the efficiency of the ditches and determined the size and type of pipe to be used at each location. |
