The Regional Water Quality Control Board requested a number of improvements to the wastewater disposal system, and required that Shasta Livestock Auction Yard undertake actions to prevent future discharges of wastewater from the facility.

VESTRA designed a waste disposal system to treat nearly 100 acre-feet of runoff generated from the confined-animal facility. In addition, VESTRA oversaw installation of designed components, which included grading and reseeding of existing sprayfields, rerouting drainage through the sprayfields, development of an operation manual, contracting pond and sprayfield operation to a third party, initiating routine cleaning of ponds, and continuation of negotiations for additional sprayfield capacity.
