VESTRA completed the survey, design, and permitting for a runoff retention pond. This project, sponsored by the Western Shasta Resource Conservation District and funded by the State of California, has goals of improving a number of water-quality parameters for flood irrigation runoff from grazed fields. These include improvement in summertime water temperature, turbidity, and fecal coliform levels in adjoining salmon-bearing streams. Work included delineation of a wetland for the project area and acquisition of permits from the US Army Corps of Engineers and Regional Water Quality Control Board.
