VESTRA is managing an investigation and remedial activities at the Bully Hill and Rising Star mines for Millennium Holdings Company. The objectives of the ongoing investigation are to eliminate 99 percent of the acid rock drainage originating from point sources and implement Best Management Practices to address the nonpoint sources.

VESTRA has completed several interim remedial activities at the Bully Hill and Rising Star mines. These activities, which were conducted pursuant to a Cease and Desist Order, included developing 15 miles of the mine access road, diverting surfacewater around the main waste rock piles, grading and revegetating the main waste rock piles, installing eight continuous recording stations to establish the baseline data required to identify and evaluate future remedial measures, rehabilitating about 200 feet of tunnel, installing two bulkhead seals, and consolidating waste rock piles.
