Present Conditions Report
Fenwood Property Conservation Easement, Shasta County, California
|
The Trust for Public Land in partnership with the Shasta Land Trust acquired a conservation easement to protect the landscape and natural resource values of the 2,243-acre Fenwood Partners property southeast of Redding in Shasta County. The property includes eight parcels located along the Sacramento River between Cow Creek and Bear Creek. Historical and current use of the property is winter cattle grazing. A field survey was conducted to document the baseline condition of the habitats and natural resource values to serve as a benchmark for future monitoring of compliance with terms and conditions of the conservation easement. Fences, roads, stock ponds, and other livestock facilities were documented and mapped. Special status species and habitats along with nonnative wildlife species and pest plant species were documented and mapped. No evidence of activities that would be in conflict with the prohibited uses contained in the easement was observed. Range and habitat conditions of the property were found to be generally healthy. The purpose of this Present Conditions Report is to establish baseline documentation of the habitat and natural resource conditions of the property for the purpose of monitoring compliance with the specific items of the conservation easement. |
