Spatial Data Library Project
|
In 2005 the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) was migrating their data library to an enterprise geodatabase. Caltrans is working with TeleAtlas to integrate and adopt the statewide TeleAtlas North America (TANA) street network as its street network. During the migration, key fields between the TeleAtlas roads and the Highway Performance Monitoring System needed to be checked for accuracy and updated. VESTRA was contracted to assist with creating the TANA/HPMS update tool and to organize and create the data library. VESTRA's programming experts worked with Caltrans to build tools that created several quality control summary tables used for the integration of the HPMS tables and TANA road segments. These tools were able to shorten the time needed to correct both statewide datasets significantly. VESTRA also created tools to automate selection and viewing of roads features. he Caltrans data library is composed of nearly 150 data layers in various spatial references and locations within their network. Caltrans project managers and VESTRA worked together to create a user-friendly data organization scheme. VESTRA created scripts to automate management of all data layers in the repository, imanagement of user-friendly folder structure, and ArcGIS layer files that reference the enterprise geodatabase. |
