VESTRA Staff Member Completes Master of Science degree in Environmental Chemistry
Melissa Markee, an environmental scientist at VESTRA, recently completed her Master of Science degree in Environmental Chemistry with a Focus on Environmental Biogeochemical Cycling from the University of Nevada, Reno. Melissa worked as a graduate research assistant in projects related to mercury in the aquatic environment, and as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree submitted a thesis based upon these findings entitled Investigation of causal factors influencing mercury concentrations in fish tissues in five Nevada reservoirs. She is planning to submit the study’s findings related to the foodweb dynamics and mercury cycling in five Nevada reservoirs to peer-reviewed journals.
