The Shasta Livestock Auction Yard retained VESTRA to design and facilitate a number of improvements to the wastewater disposal system at the confined animal facility in response to RWQCB request. In addition, the RWQCB required that the auction yard undertake action to prevent future wastewater discharges. VESTRA designed a waste-disposal system to treat nearly 100 acre-feet of runoff generated from the facility. Additionally, VESTRA oversaw the installation of design components which included grading and reseeding of existing spray fields; rerouting drainage through the spray fields; development of an operations manual, contracting pond- and spray-field operation to a third party; initiating routine cleaning of ponds; and continuing negotiations for additional spray-field capacity. VESTRA continues to provide ongoing compliance support for the facility, which includes quarterly monitoring and reporting.
