Cottonwood Creek Siphon Replacement and Fish Passage Imrovement Project
Shasta and Tehama Counties, California

The Anderson-Cottonwood Irrigation District (ACID) is replacing an exposed siphon within a channel of Cottonwood Creek bordering Shasta and Tehama Counties. The siphon is at risk of catastrophic failure and was determined by the California Department of Fish and Game to be a partial impediment to fish passage within the creek. Partial funding for the project is being provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. VESTRA has assisted ACID with the project by completing a wetland delineation, preparing a baseline biological report, preparing CEQA documents, consulting with state and federal agencies, completing permit applications, and facilitating the Section 404, 401, and 1600 permit processes. VESTRA will continue to assist ACID through construction monitoring and site revegetation. In addition, VESTRA’s engineering and surveying team completed surveying and designs for the installation of a cofferdam and bypass channel and replacement of the siphon.
