VESTRA staff members completed the watershed assessment document for the 274,000-acre Cow Creek Watershed. The objective of the assessment was to gather and integrate existing information on the watershed’s current and past conditions and use the data as a basis to identify areas in which additional data are needed and ecosystem improvements are required. The document maintained a tone positive to irrigation and ranching interests and resulted in broad support of restoration and conservation ideas, including fish screens, prescribed fire, and nonnative vegetation control.
