Sierra Valley Watershed Assessment

Sierra Valley RCD

VESTRA completed the Sierra Valley Watershed Assessment for the 298,000-acre project. The Sierra Valley RCD found the need to provide a comprehensive evaluation of environmental conditions within the hydrologic unit of Sierra Valley. The Sierra Valley forms the headwaters of the Middle Fork Feather River, a Category I Priority Watershed in the California Unified Watershed Assessment. As part of the Category I status, the Sierra Valley Watershed is a candidate for increased restoration activities due to impaired water quality or other natural resource goals. Identified impairments to water quality in the Middle Fork Feather River are dissolved oxygen, temperature, and sediment. It has been suggested that Sierra Valley is the main contributor of sediment to the Middle Fork Feather River.
