Site Investigation and Remediation

VG & Jamb Plant
Red Bluff, California

The project included initial site history reconstruction, soil sampling for contamination delineation, well installation, soil excavation, and remediation. VESTRA staff prepared all documents, sampling plans, and reports and prepared all the permits. The environmental issues included pentachlorophenol-contaminated soil at two former sawmills, an abandoned log deck and sorting yard at a third facility, and an inactive landfill. VESTRA developed an innovative remedial design for groundwater using reinjection and carbon filtration. The entire project was successfully completed, and the comprehensive solution saved the landowner more than $1 million. The project was conducted with the approval of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, California Department of Toxic Substances Control, and the local Air Quality Management District.
