CA Dept. of Boating and Waterways
VESTRA was contracted by the Department of Boating and Waterways to assist with an enterprise GIS implementation for their Aquatic Weed Program. This program conducts weed control activities in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Delta region, and collects substantial quantities of field-based monitoring information on a daily basis.
VESTRA provided an overall design that would facilitate collection, consolidation, validation, management, and reporting in a “field-to-back office” system.
VESTRA’s design included:
- Geodatabases for field data that would be collected using ArcPad
- A centralized ArcSDE geodatabase repository for basemap and field data
- A set of custom ArcGIS tools (using Visual Basic and ArcObjects) for field data form creation, field data validation and loading, and data reporting to regulatory agencies
VESTRA also provided installation support for the enterprise GIS infrastructure, as well as training for use of ArcPad, ArcGIS, and the custom tools.
