Initially VESTRA was retained to develop a countywide GIS parcel database on an extremely short, 12-week time schedule. This parcel database was developed using data from a number of sources, including existing CAD data sets from various public and private cooperators, and vectorized assessor parcel maps.  All sources were georeferenced to Bureau of Land Management’s Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) to create a seamless parcel database for the entire County.  VESTRA also linked the parcel database to the Assessors Property Information System and developed Fire District maps for use in one of the first digital submittals to the State Board of Equalization (SBE).

 

Since that time VESTRA has provided a variety of implementation services including the development of a countywide GIS implementation strategy, the development of a county roads database, the deployment of intranet and Internet applications, adjustment of the parcel base to new orthophotography, as well providing training and maintenance support to the Assessor’s Office.  More recently VESTRA has been involved in capturing Calaveras County’s General Plan and other planning related layers needed for use in UPlan urban modeling software.
