Shasta Mosquito and Vector Control Mobile Operations System

Shasta Mosquito and Vector Control District (SMVCD) is a public health agency started in 1919; charged with protecting residents from disease carrying and pestiferous mosquitoes. Since then they have annexed approximately 1,086 square miles in Shasta County and expanded their services to include a variety of vector control surveillance components. This amount of vector surveillance and control requires very careful and dynamic data collection and storage. SMVCD is required to not only maintain this data for the purposes of reporting lawful use of pesticides but also to promote timely and accurate epidemiological responses to potential mosquito borne disease outbreaks.
VESTRA is currently under contract with SMVCD to develop a custom GIS Centric Mobile Operations System (MOS) that will replace the current system for data input and control. The MOS currently under development will include the following:
