Biological Studies/Wildlife Management

Many projects have the potential to impact biological resources, such as rare plants and animals. Depending on the circumstances, one or more permits may be required by local, state, and/or federal agencies prior to beginning the project. Monitoring of the project site or mitigation of impacts is often also required by agencies issuing permits.

VESTRA’s staff of highly qualified wildlife biologists understand these special project needs and have years of experience within the regulatory arena. We specialize in conducting the field work, analyses, and reporting required to obtain the necessary permits, comply with monitoring requirements, and develop appropriate mitigation measures. Often a project design can be modified to minimize or avoid potential environmental impacts, thereby reducing the surveying, monitoring, or mitigation requirements.

When a project may affect a species listed as “Threatened” or “Endangered” under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), specific surveys must often be conducted. VESTRA can design and complete surveys or other specialized studies such that regulatory compliance is assured, costs are minimized, and delays are avoided.

VESTRA's wildlife professionals can also assist landowners and other entities in developing specialized wildlife management plans for game and non-game animals. Depending on the client’s objectives, we offer services for implementing site-specific plans that will generate revenue, improve habitats, provide mitigation credits, protect assets, or simply preserve valuable natural resource features and areas.
