ArcGIS Custom Extensions
PROVIDING THE FEATURES YOUR ORGANIZATION NEEDS
At times, greater functionality is required than an out-of-the-box solution can
provide. Our GIS developers are skilled in the creation of custom extensions to
ArcGIS that provide the functionalities that your organization needs.
Our GIS application development specialists have scripted numerous tools, such as:
- Incident Mapping Tools: Created for the California Department of
Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) as an ArcGIS desktop extension, this
integrated set of tools offers automated data creation and mapping
options for use during CAL FIRE incident mapping. - Productivity Tools: A custom desktop extension with 19 tools
scripted for the Bella Vista Water District that makes editing
water distribution data faster and easier. These include tools to
Generate IDs in forms, auto-calculate symbol rotation, sticky attribute
values population for selected field names, and the ability to add a fire
hydrant feature at user-indicated locations, among other functions. - Assessor Editing Tools: Created for the County of Contra Costa,
California, this set of two tools includes an APN Attributing tool that
automates APN number attribute editing for existing features. The
Preset Edit Environment Settings tool automates setting of the editing
environment based on settings in an XML file. These settings include
edit layer, edit task, snapping, and other options. - Metadata Wizard Tool: Designed for the California Department of Parks and Recreation, this custom ArcCatalog tool automates entering of FGDC metadata and writes user input to the appropriate ISO tag to meet ISO metadata standards.
- Assessor's Map Book Creation Tool
- Field Inventory Tool: Developed for the City and County of San Francisco (CCSF), this tool allows CCSF staff to perform lot-by-lot verification and correction of an existing ad sign survey database. The tool lets users click on a block within the map, then add or edit sign information for signs located on the block. The application also supports collection of photo images using an attached digital camera for each ad sign in the inventory. VESTRA also developed a set of custom geoprocessing scripts that will allow CCSF personnel to extract and synchronize data collected in the field with the main geodatabase.
