How To Determine Cost Of ArcGIS Online Service Credits For Storage

Calculating the cost of ArcGIS Online Credits for storage can be baffling, especially when trying to purchase additional service credits from the Esri store. A 1000 credits cost $100. But how much storage does that give you?

There are two ways credits are charged - storage based credits (for hosted feature services and tile services) and transaction based credits (for analysis, geocoding, etc.). On top of that, storage credits are based on the size of the data as well as hourly storage calculations. All of this can quickly get confusing.

A lot of the information to calculate the cost of storage and transactional ArcGIS Online Credits can be found here

However, it still needs some math to determine the costs of storage.

A simple formula to determine cost for credit storage is as follows.

Feature storage, excluding feature attachments and feature collections

1 GB = 240 credits/month or $24/month or $288/year

Storage of all content, excluding hosted feature layers including

  • Storage of attachments in a hosted feature layer

  • Published vector tile layers from ArcGIS Pro

  • Scene layer packages from ArcGIS Pro

1 GB = 1.2 credits/month or $.12/month or $1.44/year

Note: The above is for determining storage costs only. The costs also do not factor in hourly storage calculations, as mentioned here.
